Bye Bye Tonsils!

When Tyler woke up on Tuesday morning, he was really excited to "get these nasty tonsils out" as he put it. Maybe it was the promise of all-you-can-eat ice cream, popsicles, jello and chocolate pudding afterwards?

Mark came and stayed with Morgan and we got to the surgery center around 8:15am. Tyler was very brave as he talked to the surgeon and anesthesiologist and he did really well! The nurses said he was asking all kinds of questions before they started the procedure and even held his own mask on his face for the anesthesia. He chose root beer flavor to smell through the mask and then the "stinky" gas was added to put him to sleep. The actual procedure only took about 10 minutes and he woke right up afterwards and was in a good mood and ready to go home. Dr. Edmond came out and said Tyler had some of the biggest tonsils he had ever seen on a kid his age and wondered if it took him an hour to eat dinner. I told him "yes, sometimes". He expects him to start eating like crazy and probably have a big growth spurt. We're all glad we finally got this done and Tyler is already saying he can swallow and breath better. He's had a few rough days with a really sore throat, but he's being a trooper and the liquid vicodin is a life saver! I think being able to eat all of the ice cream & popsicles you want might be helping too? I'm sure he'll milk that out as long as he can :0) A few more days of taking it easy and I think he's going to be a new, better eating boy!

Here Tyler is mad at the doctor for making him dizzy...really it was the effects of the anesthetic.
Another popsicle.....
Balloons from Grandpa & Grandma and cards from Ariel & Grandma Lil.
Look - no more tonsils!!!

What a brave boy he has been - and so good about taking his medicine too. You've taken such good care of him - that's part of the reason he's doing so well.

I like how he thinks! All the ice cream you can eat and milking it for all it's worth. Smart boy.
